After receiving his high-school diploma , Jürgen enjoyed a classical hotelier career with service at Belvédère Davos, Ritz Madrid, Negresco Nice, Parkhotel Düsseldorf, and Plaza Athénée New York, followed by postgraduate studies at Cornell University for Hotel Management in Ithaca, New York.
He then spent three years as head of project acquisition and conception at Steigenberger, during which he reviewed about 200 development projects/existing properties throughout Europe; prepared feasibility studies; and provided concept development, planning oversight, calculation, contract negotiation and structuring of financing.
Six years followed as managing director and managing partner of HOTOUR hotel advisory in Frankfurt am Main, Germany, where he reviewed and analysed 100 hotel-development projects and appraisals.
He then established G.O.P. GmbH & Co. KG in the year 2000, as an independent advisory firm specialising in project development, the letting and sale of hotel properties. He was the sole managing director prior to the firm’s incorporation into Jones Lang LaSalle Hotels in January of 2006.
During 2006 and 2007, he held National Director of Jones Lang LaSalle Hotels Germany, leading the German investment and advisory team as well as being responsible for hotel transactions and advisory services within the German-speaking countries of Europe.
On July 1, 2007, he re-opened G.O.P. GmbH & Co. KG as an independent company focusing on advising clients in hotel transactions and hotel development in Germany and Europe. He wrote for numerous publications on topics such as hotel financing, hotel agreements, conversion of office space into hotels and boarding houses, success factors for hotels, and renovation/refurbishment of hotels.
He has spoken at several hospitality and property conferences.
